On the exciting unveiling of The Cole & Son Compendium, Cole & Son Managing Director Marie Karlsson, says:
“The question: ‘What is key to design longevity?’ is one we ask ourselves constantly here at the design house of Cole & Son. The answer to which being of great importance – underpinning our design ethos as we strive to bring you, our customers, innovative, intelligent, timeless design.
For us, a design achieves longevity when it exists ‘beyond the realms of time’. Superior design is neither frivolous, nor merely fashionable, yet that does not mean it lacks a sense of fun or distinct identity. It must be ‘of the moment’ to make its presence felt, but it cannot be just ‘for the moment’. It must exist above style and beyond fashion, yet, dichotomously it must be culturally aware and fashion-conscious. Good design may well help define an era, but to achieve longevity it must have the strength to transcend the time of its origin. Delving into the Cole & Son archive uncovers just that – a plethora of designs which have stood the test of time and remain as charming and captivating as the day they were created. It is these design stalwarts which we celebrate in our latest offerings: The Contemporary Collection Wallpapers and the complementary The Contemporary Collection Fabrics, which bring together the enduring style icons of our past in two master portfolios to form the foundation of our design future.
Because we love telling authentic stories and presenting our audience with something unique, we have defined and created: The Cole & Son Compendium.
The Compendium offers a new visual platform for us and contains:
1. The Contemporary Collection Wallpapers;
2. The Contemporary Collection Fabrics; together with
3. Icons Wallpapers
Together, these collections present the very best of our contemporary design emblems in a range of traditional and seasonal colour palettes."
